A 22 year old colleague was looking forward for the 13 October. She was looking to have a great holiday and when asked who she want to vote for? She said she was not interested.
11 years younger, it was my turn to say “This generation”. I am getting quite old but really I found it irresponsible not to vote. A country gives you the right to live, earn and gives you the fundamental right to be yourself. The least you could do is vote responsibly.
My colleague wanted to vote for a particular party because her father said so. We checked out and were surprised to find out that the party was not even contesting from her constituency.
But why should I blame the younger generation. I find many “grown-ups” who refuse to vote giving a stupid reason of nothing will change.
In the Lok Sabha election 3 months before, Mumbai witnessed only 40% voting which was pathetic
I hope things will change. I gave my colleague a long lecture and hopefully she will vote tomorrow…responsibly.
To make the decision easier of who to vote, information about all candidates is logged on
The site contains information about all candidates fighting the election along with their assets, criminal cases against them and their education. Although the information is lacking like what the candidates have actually done in their life rather than what they claim to do but I guess the information given is also quite ok.
So don’t just sit at home and cry the next time that nothing in this country ever going to change.
Go and vote!
