If the marathi movie, “Mee Shivaji Raaje Bhosale boltoy” hadn’t been houseful, I would have never experience seeing Akshay Kumar’s “Tasveer 8×10” (T8x10) and then you wonder “What are these big names reakky worth it?”
Nagesh Kuknoor directed T8x10 is a psychological thriller about a forest ranger in Canada who has the power to go into a photograph to the limit of 1 minute before the photo was taken and see the past. If he stays more than 1 minute he could die or have near death experience. He helps others with his powers.
One day, his father has an accident and dies in an accident in a boat. On the boat with him is his wife, his business partner, his lawyer and his nephew who is also his business associate. But not is as easy as it seems.
It turns out that the father’s death would have been murder and the only clue is a 8×10 photo just taken before the accident.
A very good concept on paper, the movie does not live up to its expectation. This is from a man who gave us “Iqbal“, “Dor” and “Hyderabad Blues”. From the first scene to the last, the movie is a huge disaster.
I could go on about finding faults with the movie. The direction is bad, the dialogue are bad, the script has huge gapping loopholes, the acting is bad, slow paced it becomes quite boring, the music is not good and the logic at the end is not convincing.
The only possible good aspect of the movie that it is shot in Canada and to some extent it captures the beautiful Canada quite well.
I am surprised that Nagesh Kuknoor wanted to even take credit for the direction and writing of the movie. Scenes end abruptly, actors sleepwalk in their scenes and after some time, it becomes quite boring.
The music is not good and the situation of the song was quite abrupt.
Supporting actors like Benjamin Gillani, Sharmila Tagore, Anant Mahadevan don’t even know if they want to be in the movie.
Ayesha Takia is the heroine of the movie. That’s all!
Akshay Kumar hasn’t done a thriller or action movie in a long time. That is if we forget the forgetful “Chandni Chowk to China”. Here too, he sucks at his acting. Watch him say “I have a secret” trying to copy the 6th Sense dialog. He jumps around when he could just run. He is taking his action hero image way too seriously.
The boring picture has comedy track too by Javed Jafari and truly speaking he is the only descent actors of them all.
T8x10 is a perfect example how bad movies are made.
4/ 3/ 2/1
KANK has been with the lowest rating on this blog for a long time. T8x10 just managed to know KANK from its bottom most position and with rating as “1”, it would be difficult to knock this movie from its lowest position
