Jammu and Kashmir which was rocked by violence few months back recently went to the polls. Many terrorist organization had warned people against voting and ordered them to boycott the assembly elections. J&K economy is not doing well and people are reeling under financial pressure.
A warning in the state by terrorist can prove to be quite fatal.
Delhi is a big city with many voters being quite educated and devoid of almost any violence in their life. Life for them is easy compared to J&K with many people being middle class to upper middle class to filthy rich.
The state Delhi went to polls on 29th November 2008.
J&K registered 65% of voting on 23rd November 2008. Almost a week later, Delhi registers 60% of voting in the assembly election which means 40% of people must be having a valid reason not to vote. I really hope they do!
Inspite of the vast difference in socio-economic condition and inspite of the security threat, J&K people understand their responsibility while the so-called educated Delhi still has to go a long way.
When are we going to learn our responsibilities as citizen of India?
