700 – That’s the number of post I will be reaching soon. It took me more than 4 and half year of existence to reach here. Its been a journey, a journey to my past, present and future. Many people have never met me but had been a part of the journey. On the occasion of 700th post, I continue with the tradition of Full2 Faltu, when I invite guest writers to write. The guest posts are for 15 writers and it will continue till 699.
These writers have chosen to write to be a part of charity. I hope you like what they write. They would love your comments.
Texture Lover missed the 600th post invitation and he had mailed me the post almost 7 months back. He has his own blog but does not update regularly.
Here he talks about women and whining. The opinion expressed in this post are of the writer and he does have a right to have a opinion even if you disagree with it. You can agree or argue with his views. Its your views, its your opinion. Like I say to my guest writers, You can write about anything.
“This coffee has no taste”, “The doctor is such a rude!”, “This town is so lame, nothing exciting to do here,” and so on. If you have ever identified yourself with any of the above mentioned whines (or similar), then I can bet you belong to the female species. (or have more of effeminate characteristics!).
Before delving deep, note that one can whine about something, only when he/she is aware of (or experienced) something better. Agreed, you can still whine if you haven’t seen anything better, but let us be frank, what are the odds in each case?
Since, it is in fashion to give an explain of any observed behavior from the time we spent as animals before we evolved into humans, I will speculate similarly. While we did spend large part of our evolutionary time as animals, which is supposedly the reason behind subtle nuances of our behavior, it will be entirely ridiculous to base all our reasoning on that time period.
Recent century, especially the last few decades have seen tremendous changes in our social behavior. And I personally believe that changing the mind-set is quicker and easier than changing the genes (about which I do not know much.)
If we go back in time, and look at man-woman relationships in the primal society, we essentially have the hunter man, and the cave-wife woman. Now, let us examine the obstacles that each encountered for which they might have complained relentlessly or simply whined. In fact, more important than the actual problems is the surroundings in which these problems were faced. And the people present around would justifiably play an important role in determining the reaction one would offer to a problem.
A woman spent most of the day at home, cooking or caring for children. If they had anything disappointing or sub par, they could criticize their man for not providing her enough good quality of things. And the woman who had the best things (lots of meat everyday, trinkets, jewelry etc.) would have less reasons to whine, and her man would be the best of all the herd. So, woman chose this method to express their dissatisfaction with their life, and their man. And it kind of established an hierarchy, less ‘good’ life you had, more you could whine.
For men, it was a wild world, literally. They had to chase animals, and fend off competitors. And this is where the biggest difference would arise from. They just could not dare to whine and feel incompetent, especially when other males (competitors for his woman!) were present. For any problem faced, they had to improvise and for every sub standard thing (e.g. hunting spear), they had to accept it and strive for better things, silently. Mainly, cause they had no one to whine to; her woman and children looked up to him.
And I believe this trait has been preserved in present day woman. With globalization and media boom each and every girl today is aware of what the topmost things are, in each and every categories. And since they are aware of the best, they want only the best. They want to mimic the rich celebrities and movie actors, and whine about everything they can lay their eye on.
Before you blast me for going against ‘wanting the best’, let me clarify that I am not against striving for best, but I am against this greed for best in everything! I want to say to these people that strive for the best, by all means do, but in the meantime enjoy what you have instead of ruining it for everyone around you by whining about it.
