The love for music is universal. Almost everybody likes some form of music. Over the years, I have loved a lot of songs. Somewhere down the road, many of these songs have become hits. I don’t have a favorite song as such but I have a whole list. Being a hit means that a song is loved by many people. Also it means that it is heard more number of times than normal. I have found myself falling out of love to these overplayed songs so much so that I wished they had never become such a hit.
And there are some songs which never become hit for some reason of the other. The lyrics are good, the song is good, the singer has sung it well but then it does not work with the people. Over a period of time, it gets lost in time somewhere and when you hear it once in a blue moon, its bliss. These songs could have been hits and for some reasons, they never were.
This is about those songs;
The missed hits, The unsung hits
Not only the song but the movie too was a miss hit. It was ripped from a romantic comedy “Housesitter” and starred Rani Mukherjee and Ajay Devgan. Directed by Milan Luthria, “Chori Chori” was about Rani Mukherjee who is an orphan or a singer or a performer or works in a hotel. Actually she is confused or the director is. Ajay Devgan plays an architect in love with Sonali Bendre but Sonali is not impressed. Rani Mukherjee meanwhile becomes homeless and comes to stay in Ajay Devgan’s under-constructed house. Ajay gets angry first but then acts along with Rani to make Sonali jealous and finally fall for him.
It could have been a lovely movie except for the poor script , over-the-limit good characters and sloppy direction. Ajay Devgan has the sleepy look in the movie. The beautiful songs were placed haphazardly but the songs were good. It had some good songs picturized in Switzerland passed as hilly India.
This particular song was almost at the climax of the movie. The song would play in endless loop in night shift when it was released. Its a soft romantic number picturized in the hills in a foggy weather. The song had good memories associated with it. Quite a soulful number
