There is a mouse in our house. I think it is still there. On Saturday when I went home at around 12:00 Midnight, I sat to watch “Hum Hain Laajawab”, the hindi version of “The Incredibles” and was totally engrossed in the movie. At the corner of my eye I saw something moving near the room door. And there it was, moving without a care in the world, the mouse. It was about 5 inches in length, 2-3 inches in width and 2 inches tall. It also had a small tail of about 3 inches.
That’s a Mouse. The dimension given by me are almost correct.
I froze and dare not move from my position. It choose to completely ignore my presence there and went on doing whatever it was supposed to do which meant just roamed around here and there before disappearing under the kitchen platform.
This is a Hamster. Looks exactly like a mouse and behaves exactly like a mouse but is not a mouse.
After some time it was back and then it managed to squeeze below the door into the house. So its there somewhere or must have escaped out again. This is the second time I am seeing a mouse in the house.
And this is the Might Mouse , an action figure.
The last time it was 9-10 months ago. We saw it a couple of times and then it just vanished. Could it be the same mouse which we saw months back, was seen again on Saturday? How could it survive in the house without getting seen? We always leave the door open when Sheena goes out to play. It must have come during that time. But could it survive for 8-9 months in the room without getting seen at all. Why not? The Loch Ness is said to have survived so many years only making an appearance once in a while, then why not this mouse. Loch Ness is reported to be so big and the dimension of this mouse is written above.
And this is Mickey Mouse.
Sheena has a hamster as a pet called Topi. It could be that this mouse is after topi because there is not much difference between an hamster and a mouse. Lagta hai uska dil aa gaya topi par.
In Mumbai we stay on the third floor but still the rats and mouse use to climb up to the third floor climbing the pipes and enter the house through the bathroom window. I still remembered my dad use to chase the rats in the middle of the night and my brother and I use to cling to my mother frightened of our wits. I could maybe fight a tiger but I am afraid of the mouse. Dad used to take a big stick and run from one end of the room to another. Mom would sometimes join him and we would have a hunting expedition at 1:00 in the night. Most of the time the prey would escape and sometimes Papa succeeded in making the kill. In both scenario, we were assured a carefree sleep.
And this is the mouse without a tail.
I have this fear of mouse from those days. Hopefully like last time, this time too the mouse would just disappear.
