I have been attending a Dutch language-speaking course for more than a month now. I had always wanted to learn another language. I tried learning Malayalam once. But gave up when my friend did not agree to teach me.
Now, partly because of my project requirement and also because my company offers me to teach Dutch for free. Dutch, is not easy. Mostly similar to English because of the alphabets used look like English but sound very different. Then while learning Dutch, the comparison with English is evident and that makes learning Dutch more complicated.
Today we have our first exam. We will be asked to converse in Dutch and asked to translate words from English to Dutch. I have been studying all evening yesterday and also now while writing this. It has been almost seven years now that I am giving any exams. Sheena, Vijay’s 9 year old daughter helped me prepare for the exam yesterday. She sure had lots of patience from the way I was studying. Actually I was ratta maring (mugging up) every thing. Well If I manage to pass, I should go and thank her first.
This takes me back. Actually seven to eight years back. I remember that was the last time I studied for any exams. It was always the last minute study. I managed to get through. I will hopefully get through this too. Maybe I should just stop worrying and study. Its not going to be the Board exam or University exam or anything. Just a routine in-the-class exam.
Have to look at the last resort. I think that could certainly help. “Hey bhagwaan is baar bacha le”.
Hope I pass!
