The love for music is universal. Almost everybody likes some form of music. Over the years, I have loved a lot of songs. Somewhere down the road, many of these songs have become hits. I don’t have a favorite song as such but I have a whole list. Being a hit means that a song is loved by many people. Also it means that it is heard more number of times than normal. I have found myself falling out of love to these overplayed songs so much so that I wished they had never become such a hit.
And there are some songs which never become hit for some reason of the other. The lyrics are good, the song is good, the singer has sung it well but then it does not work with the people. Over a period of time, it gets lost in time somewhere and when you hear it once in a blue moon, its bliss. These songs could have been hits and for some reasons, they never were or they did not enjoy the success that they deserved.
This is about those songs;
The Bhoole bisare Geet, The lost songs!

“Rules: Pyar ka Superhit Formula” was quite a sweet movie. It was about the common problem most of us faced, getting noticed, especially getting noticed by the one you love. It was quite a feel-good movie about a simple girl who takes her grandmother’s advice and follows a set of rules and makes her prince charming fall for her. The hero was Milind Soman and the heroine was the beautiful Meera Vasudevan. Even after being appreciated, she did not appear in many movies until I saw her playing housewife to Mohanlal in the brilliant “Thanmatra”. It had the evergreen Tanuja playing the all-knowing grandmother.
In spite of absence of big star, the film was well appreciated by many. It did well at the box office too. It was quite similar to “Chupke Se”, another feel-good movie released almost the same time. Both the movies did not have big stars but had good music. “Rules” had many good song and each one is quite good in itself. Picking up any song from the movie would be unfair to the other songs in the movie but still I will try.
I liked “Uljhano Ko De Diya” sung by Sanjevini and KK. It had quite a naughty feel to it. With minimal music and excellent lyrics and really good singers, this song becomes quite special. The way it was shot where the heroine imagining the hero by her side and singing with her. She is madly in love with him and she imagines him everywhere near her. Unlike the dream sequence filmed in most Hindi movies, she imagines the hero to be in the real world. Even when she imagines him on a horse, he is riding the streets of Mumbai.
The lyrics are just not rhyming but quite good poetry.

Uljhanon Ko De Diyaa Hai Tumne Jo Meraa Pataa
Toh Aa Gayee Yahaan Pe Dekho Leke Vo Bechainiyaan
Tumhi Bataao Hamko Dil Ko Kyaa Bataayein Ham
Ye Jo Bhi Hai Vo Khwab Hai Yaa Hai Zindagi
Zindagi Hai Khwab Hai Iskaa Kyaa Javaab Hai
Kyon Ulajh Gayee Ho Tum Ye Seedhaa Saa Hisaab Hai
Aur Apne Dil Ko Bhi Bataao Tum Yahi Ke Ye
Khwab Hi To Zindagi Hai Zindagi Hi Khwab Hai
Kyaa Huaa The Abhii To Tum Vahaan Aa Gaye Kaise Mere Vaaste
Manzilein Dhoondhte Huey Yahin Ho Gaye Khatm Saare Raaste
Jaane Kaise Raaston Pe Aur Ye Kaisi Manzilon Pe
Aa Gaye Hain Aaj Kal Ke Ham Jahaan Pe Ho Gaye
Thode Thode Paaglon Se Ye Bhi Sochte Nahin
Ke Baadlon Saa Man Meraa Sochtaa Hai Kyaa
Sochne Ko Sochnaa Badaa Hasin Khayaal Hai
Khud Ko Kahnaa Paaglon Saa Khoob Ye Misaal Hai
Apne Ko Samajh Ke Bhi Ye Kuchh Bhi Na Samajhne Ki
Teri Yahi Saadgi To Bas Teraa Kamaal Hai
Haath Mein Haath Leke Yun Meraa Bolo Kyaa Kahnaa Chaahte Ho Tum
Hun Aayaa Thaa Kuchh Abhi Khayaal Mein Tumne Jo Bolaa To Huaa Vo Gum
Kyaa Vo Mere Pyaar Ki Jagi Jagi Si Aarzoo Thi
Yaa Vo Thaa Mujhe Hi Apne Dil Mein Rakhne Kaa Iraadaa
Vaadaa Thaa Koi Ke Ab To Honge Ham Judaa Nahin
Yaa Kahnaa Chaah Rahe The Hamse Pyaar Hai Tumhe
Mujhe Bhi Lag Rahaa Hai Jaise Aarzoo Hi Thi Koi
Jo Mujhse Kah Rahi Thii Vaade Kaa Iraadaa Hai Koi
Dil Mein Rakhne Ki Kisi Ko Aur Judaa Na Hone Ki
Pyaar Hai Ye Kahne Ki Yaa Thi Baat Vo Ko
