The love for music is universal. Almost everybody likes some form of music. Over the years, I have loved a lot of songs. Somewhere down the road, many of these songs have become hits. I don’t have a favorite song as such but I have a whole list. Being a hit means that a song is loved by many people. Also it means that it is heard more number of times than normal. I have found myself falling out of love to these overplayed songs so much so that I wished they had never become such a hit.
And there are some songs which never become hit for some reason of the other. The lyrics are good, the song is good, the singer has sung it well but then it does not work with the people. Over a period of time, it gets lost in time somewhere and when you hear it once in a blue moon, its bliss. These songs could have been hits and for some reasons, they never were or they did not enjoy the success that they deserved.
This is about those songs;
The Bhoole bisare Geet, The lost songs!
==========================================
Jimmy Shergil made an impressive debut in Gulzar’s “Machis”. Although he did not make it that big with low budget movies, he does surprises once in a while. Playing second fiddle to many heroes he has managed to stay longer than his co-star in Machis, Chandrachur Singh. He has survived a lot in the industry.
Long before Sanjay Leela Bansali made his “Blue” film, director Shoojit Sarcar made “Yahaan”, an intense Hindu-Muslim love story set in terror inflicted Kashmir. It was shot with a blue filter and the movie has a blue colour being more prominent in the whole movie hence the “blue” tag. It was quite a decent movie and although it did not do well, I would still rate it as 7 out of 10. Shot in actual Kashmir it was a commendable effort. It was also the debut movie of the beautiful Minishaa Lamba
It had some good music and some very good song. One of the better and the best song of the movie was “Poochey jo koi”. Its shot on the lead pair of Jimmy and Minisha but its not a typical love song. Shot in the blue hue, I like the way it was picturized. Also the lyrics are good and it had to be so good because they are written by Gulzar. What makes the song more special is the beautiful voices of Shaan and Shreya Ghosal. Just close your eyes and listen to the haunting voices of these two singers and then you would understand why it is such a beautiful song. A song about love and hope.
