asuph has tagged me. Its been a long time since I have been tagged. The tag started by Yosso is quite simple. It says;
All you have to do is select and upload one photo that you have clicked this year (2007) that is special to you. Could be anything…aesthetic, technical or personal. Also, put in a short note why it is special.
The year mentioned above would be 2007 as we are already in 2008 now. The reason is because I got the meme late and it took a lot of time to search a special picture.
I am a learning photographer and I click photos by the dozens. Lets make it by hundreds. So anytime I am out or at a function or any event, I am clicking like crazy. At last count I would have thousand and thousands of photos. I hardly delete them Memory card and low cost of memory ki jai ho!
The most special pictures I have clicked in 2007 are of my friends and family but as personal and blog policy I do not publish personal or my friends photos, they would remain special away from public eye.
And without the personal photos too, I have so many photos that I would label as special. Photos are memories and viewing them again takes you back to the time I had and mostly it was a good time I had.
I could not select one single photo so I did what the leaders do. I selected two photos.
I always say that Amsterdam was one of best three years of my life. I enjoyed thoroughly and I don’t think that time will come back again. It took me three years to cross the Ij. It was a Theatre workshop and a late dinner and we got the ferry that took us from Amsterdam Noord to Amsterdam Centraal station. This was probably the last time when the whole team was together. Most of the team members were released from the project after this trip. I was with people who I had spent years with and most of us were seeing Amsterdam like this for the first time.
Free ferries carry passengers from Amsterdam Noord to Amsterdam Centraal and as we approached the Centraal station seen as the big long structure in the left, the sun had just set in the horizon. Amsterdam was just lighting up. This was a city that I hated for being too quite when I came here in 2004 and somehow I knew that I would be seeing the city I had learned to love for the last time. This image would remain etched in my memory for a long time to come.
The second Image is from Girgaon Chowpathy in Mumbai. Although I have lived in Mumbai my whole life, I have never been to the Girgaon Chowpathy at night. The Chowpathy is far away from our suburban home. I have difficulty clicking night photo because it requires the shutter speed to be slower and the camera should be operated without any vibration. On that day, I took a number of pictures but this was the only one that came close to being clear. Another one of the good picture was of the Queen’s necklace.
But this one shows the road that goes to Walkeshwar and more importantly the Mumbai Skyline. This was the second month after I came back from Amsterdam and it was taking time for me to adjust back to the life in Mumbai. Hopefully 2008 will see more Mumbai pictures
I would like to pass on the tag and I haven’t done it in a long time so please complete it

[...] Punds tagged me, and as I am wont to do with tags, I attack them with all the zeal of a hungry dog a bone. [...]
punds,
thanks for taking the tag and passing it on. as usual a very nice writeup and the mumbai chowpati picture is amazing. my grandmother used to live in girgaon, so i’ve been to this chowpati at night many times. and then just across the street are the kulfi-shops, couple of them been there for a century now!
cheers,
asuph
Thanks Punds.
Nice stories and snaps, love the second one; the grey washed effect is interesting.
cheers
PS What does punds mean?
interesting, not only the post, but that fact that all your “tagees” are girls. imagine – same thing happened to me on the same tag!!!

Punds,
Yaar why don’t you start using a Tripod while taking night pics.. Use it and you will see what a world of difference it makes to your low light pics..
Me too haven’t been to Girguam Chowpatty much.. Surpisingly there aren’t many people seen in the pic that you have taken.. which seems quite odd coz one always associates Chowpatty overflowing with teeming masses.. More than the sea, i guess its the beachfront Chaat stalls which drives people to this place
i was going to suggest the tripod, but then i thought a photo-dud like me should not offer advices
.
and about chowpaty, it’s not crowded in the night. most people are eating the kulfi across the street
Thanks Monica, yatin
La Louve
I was with them this week. But could not meet Sheru. He is in Amsterdam
Thanks Uber
