A Short Story
=====================================
He looked around with his 3rd drink in his hand. The terrace party was in full swing.
He looked at his watch 1:30 AM.
He was bored. He hated business parties like this where he hardly knew anyone. He just had another day in the city and he would fly back home.
He was tired of making small conversation with the company people around and it was already past his bed time. He looked around. A terrace party to celebrate the big contract and such a boring party. There was a limit till he could party. People were engaged in animated conversation. Tomorrow they will be back to the usual back stabbing.
He stood at the terrace wall in a corner enjoying the cool winter air. There was even a slight breeze today. It was then that he saw her. Walking around in that white flowing dress. What was it? A gown? A frock? Whatever it is called, she looked beautiful in that. He was never sure about women dresses anyway. She emitted a kind of radiance, a light in the whole surrounding. Atleast that what he felt. He looked at her mesmerized, by her beauty, her grace. She seem to walk alone between all those people.
He was surprised that such a beautiful girl was without someone by her side. He just looked at her. She turned her head and looked at him. He turned his gaze elsewhere. He was not used at ogling at girls and then a beautiful girl like her looking at him directly made him nervous.
He looked back at her and she was still standing there looking at him. She smiled. He looked confused. Why was she smiling at him? He looked around if she was smiling at anybody else. Everyone else was oblivious of her presence. He looked at her again. She was still smiling. He smiled back.
She smiled and then started walking again. He watch her walk to the other end of the terrace. She seem to be alone. Should he go and introduce himself? She climbed on the chair kept next to the terrace wall.
“What was she doing?” He looked at her.
She climbed on the terrace wall and stood there. Her white flowing dress fluttering slightly in the wind against her hourglass body. He looked at her with fear in his eyes. Everyone was still busy with their unnecessary chit chat. She looked back at him, her eyes focusing only on him.
She smiled at him! Then she jumped!
He looked at the empty terrace wall. She was standing there a moment ago and now she was gone.
He looked around. The shock on his face was evident but the people around were still normal. No one had panicked
“Did you see that?” He shouted in horror “She jumped!”
“No she didn’t” A voice assured him from behind
He started walking toward the terrace wall. “She did jump. I saw her jump”
“No! She did not. You are just imagining things”
“Do you think, I am a fool here?” he turned around to challenge the person and stood in shock.
She was standing there, smiling at him, in the same white flowing dress.
The next moment he opened his eyes. He was breathing fast. He took some time to find where he was. His eyes adjusted to the semi dark room, trying to come in term of his own whereabouts. He sat on the bed to realize he was still in the hotel. His heart was breathing faster, faster than his breath. He put the light on the side of the bed and started to relax.
“It was a dream” He smiled as he wiped the sweat from his forehead.
He sat there as his breathing and heartbeats returned to normal. He had his thought racing as how did he get a dream like that. He poured water from the flask and got out of the bed. He looked at his watch. 1:30 AM.
He walked to the window and pulled out the heavy curtains. The city was sound asleep. Being on the 20th floor of a luxury hotel are the perks of working in a Multinational. He looked around the neighboring building. Most of them were smaller than the floor he was. He looked at the right of his window and he froze.
The building at the right was two floors shorter than his window and he could see the whole terrace clearly. It had the same terrace, the terrace he had seen in his dreams just a few minutes ago and she was standing on the terrace wall, with the same flowing white dress fluttering in the night breeze.
He watched in horror as she stood there, without a fear. It could not be happening. It was still a dream. She did not exist. He was assuring himself. He was too shocked to do anything.
She suddenly looked in his direction. Yes! She was looking at him. He froze as he looked at her in horror. Her eyes focused on him.
She smiled at him! And then she jumped!

Note: If I write about my weird dreams and my Nightmares, I would write more than 365 horror stories and each one would be original and weird. Thankfully I do not remember each and every dream. The above story was a nightmare I had few days back and a really bad one. The first part is exactly like my dream. The second part, I made up.
