Woh Bhuli Dastaan - 5
December 15, 2005 by full2faltu
The fifth in the series. Still a couple of more left. If you have missed the earlier parts………..
Chitrahaar/Chayyageet
Both program showed Hindi movie songs. Chayyageet was Mumbai Doordarshan program and Chitrahaar came from national Television. Chitrahaar was more popular as it showed songs from upcoming movies. There were no movie trailers then. I used to go to my friends house because he had colour television then. Chitrahaar used to come on Wednesday and Chayyageet used to come on Friday.
Indradhanush.
A science fiction serial starring Akshay Anand. Somewhere it’s written the small boy in the serial was Karan Johar. It was something to do with time travel. They travel to the time of independence struggle and then travel forward to 2035 (I think again). A nice serial
Space City Sigma
Featuring Milind Soman or was he in Captain Vyom? The serial was inspired by Star Trek. The hindi made it confusing. I think it was directed by Ketan Mehta. A poor copy of Star Trek
Param Vir Chakra
Sunday morning drama about all those soldiers who got Param Vir Chakra. Nice patriotic stuff.
Hello Zindagi.
Current affair program hosted by journalist Nalini Singh. The title was surprisingly a song by Jagjit Singh called “Hello Zindagi, Zindagi noor hai, Magar isme jeene ka dastoor hai”. When the program started I expected some story in it. But strangely Nalini Singh is seen speaking very fast. Never saw much of it.
Tenali Rama
The serial was hindi, the setting was south Indian and the theme song North Indian “Baale bale bale tenali rama”. Although very much popular, it ended very soon.
Neev
I liked the serial very much. It was based in a hostel and they had all these different houses and the rivalry between houses. I think the serial use to come on Sunday afternoon. Amit Kumar sang the title song, “Dharti par Suraj ki kirne….. then something something and then Neev rakhe vidyalay ki”
Byomkesh Bakshi
One detective serial that almost reached the quality of Karamchand. Based on some Bengali character, it had Rajit kapoor playing the lead. The characters were lot similar to Sherlock Holmes with also a Dr. Watson.
Gul Gulshan Gulfam
Pariksheet Sahani was acting in this serial. I think this serial was shot in Kashmir on the house boat. Kind of Soap Opera. Didn’t watch it much.
Aakhri Daav
I remember the theme song. It had Farook Sheikh and Dipti Naval. I don’t remember the story.
What’s the good word?
A quiz show. Do not remember the concept. The show was hosted by someone famous. Anybody has answers. Your chance Team A?
Quiz time
Siddhartha Basu hosted this show. I guess his first quiz show.
Kakaji Kahi
Om Puri in the title role of Kakaji. Had a very odd laugh. Kind like ha ha ha. Never followed it much.
Karwa Sach
I think the serial had a different story in each episode and showed a social cause in each. I think it was made by the same person who made “Bahaar Aane Tak” (Remember Sumit Saigal)
Prahari
Sunday mornings. Based on the Indian armed forces
Yaatra
Om Puri traveling on the Indian railway from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. The first travel show of India.
Turning Point
A Science magazine. Girish Karnad use to host the show. They tried to explain science in a lay man’s language. Much much better than the boring UGC program every weekdays.

oh i loved “neev”… I am showing my age here
vi
Oh!
But Vi, you are still older to me.
Ha!Ha!Ha!
Punds
What’s the good word host was Sabira Merchant.
How did you forget all the wonderful Quiz Shows hosted by Siddharth Basu
Hey You Forgot to mention some other serials
Like the Samandar, Lifeline(Jeevan Rekha), Isee Bahaney ( Pankaj Kapur), Chapte Chapte, Khiley ka Rahasya,Aasmaan Se Aage (Based on the Novel, The Fountainhead, ended abruptly though), Reporter, Shekhar suman. Ek 2 teen char, Famous Five and many more which I dont recall……THOSE WERE THE DAYS……Jaaney kaha gaya woh din…….
The Good Ole days have passed us by
Like all things in life we can’t ask Why…..
To Grammar and High School and College we went
Without ever thinking what it all meant……..
Does anybody has the title song “Hai Lau Zindagi” by Jagjit Singh ?? I need it please
i don’t think you will get that hello zindag isong but recently a album by jagjit is released. it contains the song.
Does any music director think about Amit Kumar.. who still remains the voice that so many people across india would love to hear. We all talk about Sanu, Abhijeet, Sonu, Shaan, Babul and could any one realised what if he would sing any of their hit numbers. I tell you that would be wonders. My point is no one today realises the great talent having being misused. The singer who is always rated and loved by music directors like S.D, RD and other greats at that era could jsut not get into his shell and that we should not at any time allow that. its better late than never. Lets not forget he still has got a lot to give to the indian cinema, and its high time we should realise that and bring the best out of him… He is the voice that people will still go for as he is a class by himself. So lets bring him back and lets bring back the kishore kumar era,, once again. I am more than sure no one will be dissapointed if we can get back a voice much similar to kishore kumar and who else could stand in for kishore kumar if not Amit,,, the name which still has a magic and which still can create magical hits. BRING HIM BACK
Mungerilaal ke haseen sapne, mulla nasirudeen, adalat(dheeraj kumar), Honi anhoni, daane anar ke, lekhu… the list goes endless.
Thanx for posting these names. Cananyone help me in finding DVD/CDs for these?

Malgudi Days : One of my all time favourite
Afsaane : one good serials about undelivered letters
Vaagle Ki duniya : a good serial depicting problems of middle class

Rajni : Priya Tendulkar played the lead character…….. somewhat at the same time Sachin Tendulkar came into Indian Team ……. i guess
Fauji, Dusra Kewal, Circus, Ahmak : Sharukh Khan’s good efforts paid later indeed
there were some mythological serials too….. Sinhasan batteesee, Vikram aur baital,
n some toony ones like gayab aaya,
n then came the time of so called CABLE TELEVISION ……… n a flood of serials just thrown upon the audience ..like Tara, Banegi Apni baat n so on………….but a couple of serials still stood out like……. The Wonder Years, Dooogie Houser MD
n now its a wastage of time to even think abt a serial
