Moods Condoms – A review

TV ads in Netherlands are mostly in dutch. It’s difficult to understand if there is more of talking. But I like ads which are to the point and convey the right message through action. Remember the fevicol ad in newspaper about people sitting and sleeping in a train with the Fevicol sticker behind them and one single line below the photo, “fevicol ka jod, majboot jod” or something like that. The ad did not have any product display. Just the photo and the ad line.

A few days back before coming to Netherlands I saw the Moods condom ad on TV. It shows a young couple on a bike. The girl sitting at the back is touching the boy in the front, kissing him, biting him and just holding him. It further shows the reaction of people on the street as they see them driving pass them. The reactions were what one could expect in real life. Trying to look but never staring. Just a stolen glance and each person looking and reflecting his/her own life. Most of the onlookers are woman. All through the ad the Kishor Kumar song “Yeh kya hua” is softly played in the back ground. Anybody who has been in a relationship or currently is will understand and be able to identify with the teasing going on between couples.

The ad was erotic, sexy, to the point and even though being a condom ad surprisingly not at all vulgar. No sex, no skin show but just pure teasing between partners.

i just got back from mumbai and saw that ad…in fact i loved it so much i did a search for it and came across your blog. i totally agree with your read on the ad – they’ve captured those stolen moments perfectly.

thanks for the name of the song that is playing in the background, it’s been in my head and i so wanted to know what it was!

I am from chennai, i saw the ad long back and loved the track playing on the ad. I even recorded it… That few seconds. Fantastic Ad, Expressing the sex with love without vulgarity.

I have seen this ad several times because of its attractive song. It suits the ad. Also the ad is so meaningful but not vulgar.
